GymRat saves the data the app needs to work, using your device's local storage only:
This information never leaves your device. It is not uploaded, synced, shared or sold. It is not visible to the developer or to anyone else.
Exercise cards include optional "watch form video" links that open YouTube in your browser. Once you leave GymRat, the privacy policy of that website applies. GymRat sends nothing with those links except the standard web request your browser makes.
If you choose to connect Health in Settings, GymRat reads your step count to show your real daily activity, and writes the workout energy and weight entries you create in the app. All Health data is processed on your device only — it is never uploaded anywhere, never shared, and never used for advertising or analytics. You can revoke access at any time (iOS: Health app → Sharing → Apps → GymRat; Android: Health Connect settings), and the app keeps working without it.
When used as a website or installed app, GymRat stores a copy of its own program files on your device so it can work offline. This cache contains app files only — not your personal data — and is managed by your browser or operating system.
You are in full control: open Settings → Reset all data inside the app, clear the site data in your browser, or simply uninstall the app. Because nothing is stored anywhere else, that removes everything, permanently.
GymRat provides general fitness guidance for adults. If you are under 18, use it with a parent's or professional's guidance.
GymRat generates guideline numbers based on published formulas (Mifflin-St Jeor and standard sport-nutrition ranges). It is not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Consult a qualified professional before changing your diet or training, especially if you have any medical condition.
If the app ever changes in a way that affects privacy (for example, adding an optional online feature), this page will be updated and the effective date changed before that feature ships.
